Downturns usually tend to reduce gender inequality, but that's not the case under COVID-19. Women are over-represented in the hardest-hit industries, and now that economies are re-opening, there’s still one crucial feature that could roll back decades of gender equality by preventing them from going back to work: lack of child care.
